Big Buff Leads Nice Night for Defenders

(4/6/12) Sure the Jets' playoff hopes are grounded, but that doesn't matter to Dustin Byfuglien, Zach Bogosian and Tobias Enstrom.  The trio combined for 3G and 4A in the Jets' latest loss, this time to the Islanders.  Bogosian has been lighting it up down the stretch. Following a 3A performance last week, he now has 2G and 5A in his last 4 games.  Byfuglien has suddenly reached his career high point total, but in almost 20 fewer games!  He has a goal and 5 helpers in his last 3 games.  Byfuglien is a total keeper.  If he can manage to avoid injury in 2012-13, he could lead all defenders in scoring.

Dion Phaneuf scored the OTGWG for the Leafs on Thursday.  It was his 11th of the season, although only his first goal in 9 games.  All told, it's been a nice comeback season for Phaneuf.  43 points represents his highest point total since 2008-09 with Calgary.

Erik Karlsson notched an assist in the Sens' loss to BOS.  Karlsson now has 59 helpers and sits 10th overall in NHL scoring.  He's the Norris frontrunner.

Finally in LA, Willie Mitchell (3A) and Alec Martinez (1G, 1A) combined for 5 points in the Kings' 6-5 loss to SJ.  If you think the Kings can make some noise this postseason, both players deserve some attention, but as nothing more than extremely low-end handcuffs to a fantasy playoff roster ladened with Kings.
