Dorsett Locks Up Heavyweight Title

(4/8/12) We have a new heavyweight champ in the NHL. With 2 fights on Saturday (his first fights since mid February!), Derek Dorsett caught and passed Zac Rinaldo for first in the league, with 235 PIMs on the year. Both altercations came against Matt Martin (the NHL's leading hitter with 374 - second is Dustin Brown with 293), and were more like tussles than actual fights. Nonetheless, 12 minutes in penalties, including 2 majors, is exactly what Dorsett and fantasy GMs needed. Zenon Konopka relinquishes his title, albeit out of no fault of his own. He finishes third in the PIMs race, with a respectable 193 PIMs and 19 majors in 22 less games (55 GP) than Dorsett (77). Brandon Prust and Shawn Thornton finish the season tied for the lead in major penalties with 20.

Here is the second of Dorsett's two bouts:

The best fight of the game was actually bewteen Jared Boll and Michael Haley. Boll throws some bombs in this one. If it weren't for his injury to start the year, Boll very easily could have challenged Dorsett for the NHL lead in PIMs, as traditionally he's been more of a pure fighter for CLB than Dorsett.
