Flyers Open the Fantasy Floodgates
(4/16/12) And... boom goes the dynamite. The Flyers were at it again Sunday, notching an incredible 8-goals for the second consecutive game, downing Pittsburgh 8-4 to take a 3-0 stranglehold on the series.
For fantasy owners, this is the stuff dreams are made of! There are currently 14 players with four or more points in the playoffs - 13 of them are either a Flyer or a Penguin!
For owners of players from the Flyers, you couldn't ask for a better start. In yesterday's win, Claude Giroux added 2-points (1G, 1A) to his total and now has a league-leading 8-points in the playoffs, Danny Briere tallied two goals and an assist, Jaromir Jagr recorded three helpers, and Max Talbot and Matt Read each had a couple of goals. Looking further, Braydon Coburn, Brayden Schenn, and Wayne Simmonds all notched two points apiece. Philly is up 3-0 in the series, they're staring at the second round, and the entire roster is firing on all cylinders! Well done if you loaded up on the Flyers.
For owners of the Penguins, it's grim. You're getting half-decent production for the moment, but considering most of the Pens were early draft picks, a few points in a first round loss is not what you had in mind.
But hey, don't give up, it's not over yet. Philly still has to put away a top caliber team in an elimination game, and the Pens have as much chance as any team to string together four straight. It's not looking good, but crazier things have happened...
Speaking of crazy things, how about the finish? On top of all the points, it was also raining penalty minutes. Even Sidney Crosby dropped the gloves (at least one glove, anyway), as did Kris Letang, and we'll definitely hand it to the Peguins' leaders for trying to spark some emotion. Check out the fights... Crosby even lands a couple of shots, and look at Letang go beast mode!
