Roster Update: David Jones, Jagr, Hunwick, Kuznetsov

(6/8/12) We have a few roster notes to report before Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Finals.  First, David Jones has signed a 4 year deal with his current club, the Colorado Avalanche.  Jones is coming off a 20 goal, 37 point 2011-12 season (0.51 pts/gp), which was 7 goals and 8 points less than his career season two years ago.  The Avs obviously see him as a crucial cog in the wheel alongside their nucleus of talented young players.  As well, the Avalanche have resigned defenseman Matt Hunwick, who had 6 points and a decent roto stat line in 33 games in 2011-12.  Hunwick spent the majority of last season in the press box before dressing in 21 straight to close out the season.

It sounds as though the Flyers are planning on re-signing Jaromir Jagr for the 2012-13 season.  The two sides are currently in talks over another short-term deal.  All told it was a very good return to the NHL for Jagr, who finished third in Philly scoring with 54 points in 73 games.

Finally, highly touted Washington Capitals prospect Evgeny Kuznetsov will remain in the KHL for the next two seasons.  The 20-year old led his KHL Traktor team with 40 points in 49 GP in '11-12.  The Caps took him in the first round in 2010, and this development is certainly a disappointment.
