Stamkos Hits the Magic Number

(3/14/12) After stalling short of 50 goals a season ago due to a drought that saw him notch only 5 goals in the final 28 games of the season, Steven Stamkos rid himself of his fantasy demons on Tuesday.  He scored his 49th and 50th goals of 2011-12 in the Lightning's 6-1 drubbing of Boston - of all teams.  Brian Lee (D) assisted on both, while St. Louis and Purcell also picked up an assist each.

Stamkos has been far more consistent this season.  With just over ten games to go, Stamkos looks like he will be the only player to reach 50 this year, and he also leads the league in points.  Well done keeper owners; at just 22 years of age, fantasy owners will be enjoying Stamkos' production for a decade to come.

Game note: Don't fear Bruins fans.  Marty Turco was the starter, which is why the Bs had such a poor showing.  Tim Thomas came on in relief, but it was too late.  If anything, the 6-1 result sheds light on the what could happen if Thomas got injured in the postseason.
