Stamkos Nets #60

(4/7/12) With his 60th goal of the season, Steven Stamkos has officially entered the realm of the all time greats in NHL scoring.  We're talking the likes of Wayne Gretzky, Mario Lemieux, Pavel Bure, Mike Bossy, Jari Kurri, Steve Yzerman and Guy Lafleur (amongst 19 total NHLers who have reached the mark).  Attaining the 60 goal plateau is something special, and it hasn't been done since 2007-08, when Alex Ovechkin notched 65.

Fantasy owners who went all in on Stamkos back in September and October at their regular season drafts: congratulations - you have been rewarded.  Keeper owners who stayed the course, congratulations to you as well.  Remember, after starting the 2010-11 season with 40 goals in 54 games, Stamkos went on a drought for the ages, recording just 5 goals in the final 28 games of that year.  It  was easy to downgrade Stamkos' potential heading into this season, instead 2011-12 forever goes down as a superb fantasy campaign.  And, at just 22 years of age, much more can be expected.
