Al Montoya May Start Tuesday

Standard Spin: Islanders' goalie Al Montoya is ready to return from a concussion and could see his first start Tuesday, according to Rotoworld.com.  Montoya has sat out the last 16 games recovering, while Evgeni Nabokov has held down the fort nicely.

The story for fantasy owners is that Montoya's return spells bad news for Nabokov's value, and Nabokov's emergence is bad news for Montoya's value.  Montoya had gotten a stranglehold on the #1 position before the injury, but Nabokov has earned the right to a chunk of the workload (maybe even the starter's job).  The exact split could favor either goalie going forward, but it will no doubt be a timeshare one way or the other.  Considering wins are tough to come by on Long Island, neither goalie is likely to be worthy of a roster spot on fantasy rosters except in very deep leagues.  (Jan.24)
