Chara vs. Alfredsson: All-Star Rosters Set

Standard Spin: Daniel Alfredsson and Zdeno Chara were comfortable enough selecting the All-star rosters in front of the bright lights and the TV cameras Thursday, but how would they hold up in a "real" fantasy draft in the dark confines of a friend's basement?

Imagine Alfie and the Friendly Giant locking horns with the characters in your league, trash talk raining down, half drunk and desperately calling out names that were taken three rounds ago, all the while competing with something actually on the line - ie:  big money and massively important trophies.

Judging by some of the selections that were made, Chara and Alfredsson would be the clowns taking home town players in the first rounds, letting emotions and rivalries interfere with their selections, and passing over safe choices for flashier names.  They wouldn't stand a chance!

Here's how the "fantasy" draft went down round-by-round.

As for the best pick, we'll proclaim Henrik Sedin in round 13 as the "steal of the draft."  That seems pretty late for a recent Art Ross winner and a guy that has spent parts of the season leading the league in points again.  It's pretty obvious that the Boston-Vancouver rivalry precluded Chara from taking either of the twins, so perhaps Alfredsson figured that out and passed on them early, knowing he would probably get them on the cheap in the late rounds...

Or, considering Alfie spent the draft targeting teammates, it's quite possible the Sedins just got snubbed. (1/27/12)
