Coach Hitchcock: Elliott is "Fine"
(4/11/12) A quick injury note for you here. Blues goalie Brian Elliott left Tuesday's practice with an upper body injury that he's been apparently nursing for a week. Because the team did not want to aggravate it, Elliott sat out the second half of practice. Coach Hitchcock said the team plans to "get him back out here tomorrow or the next day and see how it is. He'll be fine though."
Needless to say, Jaroslav Halak's value bumps up a bit if Elliott is injured; however, the Blues used both of their netminders equally this season, and there is no reason to think that - with a healthy Brian Elliott - this won't continue. Look for Halak to get the Game 1 start, and then Elliott to play as soon as he is ready to go. This is a mandatory handcuff situation at playoff pool drafts, especially to safeguard against the risk of one goalie actually getting Hitchcock's blessing to run away with the starting job.
