TUES Injury Update: Gagne, Aucoin, Dubinsky
(5/15/12) With only four teams remaining it's fairly quiet on the injury front these days, but perhaps the most interesting story of the the last 24 hours is that Kings forward Simon Gagne is cleared for contact - he's been out since suffering a concussion Dec. 26.
The news is encouraging for Gagne's outlook for next year, but it seems like a long-shot that he'll see any action during the playoffs. With that said, it's not impossible. If he can get comfortable enough over the next week or two, he might just find himself playing for the Stanley Cup. If you're in a playoff pool that allows free agent pick-ups, Gagne could be worth a flier on the off chance he sees action.
Looking ahead to tonight, Coyotes defenseman Adrian Aucoin is the only notable player whose status is unknown. He missed Game 1 against the Kings with an undisclosed injury, but he practiced yesterday and is considered a game-time decision for Game 2. Otherwise, it's all systems go for both teams.
And we have a minor update on the status of Brandon Dubinsky - he missed the last 8 games with a leg injury. The Rangers forward has yet to begin skating, but he has resumed conditioning workouts. Regardless, he's not close to returning.
