Weds Injury Update: Lecavalier, Perry, Byfuglien

(3/14/12)  It's a pretty quiet day on the injury front, but we have a few important updates for fantasy owners.  First of all, Vinny Lecavalier is making progress with his broken hand and is "hoping" to return as early as next week.  According to the Tampa Bay Times, Lecavalier still can't shoot the puck or stick-handle effectively, but it won't be long before he can.  If you're holding out for him on your bench, expect him to suit up for the Lightning's final few games.

Meanwhile, heading into tonight Corey Perry is questionable with a right shoulder injury.  He missed the Ducks' previous contest, and there are conflicting reports on his availablity for Wednesday.  According to the team's Twitter feed, Perry was on the ice for the morning skate, so it looks like he's a game-time decision.  It's the same for teammate Luca Sbisa, who also skated and is questionable tonight.

The Jets are another team with a couple of players ailing, as Dustin Byfuglien and Zach Bogosian missed practice yesterday.  Byfuglien is dealing with a lower-body injury but is probable to play.  Jets coach Claude Noel said of Byfuglien, "We've just got to rest him... He's got a lower, below-the-knee function that needs to say off the ice a little bit.  He'll be fine."  As for for Bogosian, he's missed 10 of the last 11 games with a wrist injury and is doubtful again tonight.

During last night's 1-0 loss to the Stars, Minnestota forward Steve Kampfer was bloodied by a high-stick and went to the dressing room.  He's day-to-day.

For Calgary, Blake Comeau was in action after missing four games with an upper-body issue.  He assisted on the OT winner in a huge 3-2 win over the Sharks.

And in other notes, Tyler Myers will serve the first game of his suspension tonight against the Canadiens.  He's eligible to return Mar. 21.

That's it for today.  It's the calm before the storm, as we're one sleep away from the return of Sidney Crosby tomorrow against the Rangers.  Get your popcorn ready!
