Patrice Bergeron Scores Twice

Standard Spin: Patrice Bergeron scored both Boston goals in regulation, then buried a do-or-die chance to keep the shootout going, before David Krejci dealt the death blow to the Panthers in a 3-2 Bruins' win over the Cats Monday.

Bergeron is one of the hottest players in fantasy hockey - it's his 4th multi-point performace in 7 games, with 11 points over that stretch - and he's taken his game to a completely new level as of late.

Bergeron is also a player who might offer a beacon of hope regarding Sidney Crosby.  The first names off everyone's lips when concussions come up are inevitably the likes of Lindros or LaFontaine, but Bergeron dealt with severe concussion symptoms and multiple hits to the head early in his career and, after taking a couple of seasons to mature and find a more consistent game, has returned to full health and blossomed into an elite player.

We're not predicting Crosby's concussion battle will follow the same path, but remembering Bergeron's troubles and seeing him overcome them does provide some balance to all the "doomsday" talk.  (Jan.17)
