Peter Mueller Set to Return Thursday

Standard Spin: Poof!  Just like that, Peter Mueller is ready to return for Colorado's game tonight against the Preds.  Mueller has only managed to play in 18 games over the last two-and-a-half seasons, as he's battle persistent concussion symtoms.  He suited up for the first 3 games this year - zero points - before missing the next 23 contests.

Can he become a fantasy factor?  We're skeptical.  First, Mueller will have to stay on the ice, which is something he obviously hasn't been able to do.  Second, he'll have to shake off the rust of sitting out essentially 2 full seasons, not to mention he'll need to get his conditioning up before we can expect much of anything.  With that said, Mueller was the 8th overall pick in 2006 and he's only 23.  He's got the natural ability - 54 points in his rookie season back in 07-08 - and he's still young enough to revive his career.  If he can keep his head in one piece, and if he can gather a little momentum, there's a chance for him to make an impact to your fantasy roster down the stretch.  Mueller is definitely a high-risk stock, but there's nothing wrong with grabbing him as the last player on your bench and seeing what happens.  (Jan.12)
