Andy McDonald Has Assist in Return
Standard Spin: Blues forward Andy McDonald returned to action Sunday after sitting out since the third game of the season with concussion symptoms. He logged 16+ minutes and chipped in an assist, and we feel like he makes for a nice pick-up with lots of upside at this late stage in the year.
McDonald has already been skating for more than two months preparing for a comeback, so his conditioning shouldn't be too much of a factor, and he should be able to hit full speed fairly quickly. He's shown in the past that he can return from this injury and be immediately productive, as he also missed the beginning of last season with a concussion before returning to record 50-points in 58-games.
McDonald is one of those guys that is always flying under the radar, mainly due to the fact that he seems to miss time every season - he's had at least six concussions by our count - but he is extremely productive when healthy. If he's on your waiver wire, don't wait. He could be the secret weapon you're looking for to push you over the top. (2/13/12)
