2014-2015 NHL Preview Guide

UPDATE: Lightning Strike Twice

(3/3/12) Hold on Jets, Capitals and Panthers fans, the Tampa Bay Lightning - last year's Eastern Conference finalists who took the Stanley Cup champion Bruins to game 7 - are coming on at just the right time.  Playoff pool combatants know that post-season scouting has already begun, and the Tampa Bay Lightning are a team to watch.  The squad is 6-2 in its last 8 games, and they are showing poise in the face of adversity.  Friday the team secured an important two points with a 4-3 win in OT over the New York Rangers, the best team in the East.  Ryan Malone scored the OT winner.

The game could amount to a round one preview, and we have a funny feeling about the Rangers.  The Lightning are seasoned veterans of previous post-season runs.

Notable scorers from Friday include St. Louis, Stamkos (2 points each), and Purcell (3 points) for Tampa, while Gaborik, Anisimov, Dubinsky, Brad Richards and Stepan hit the scoresheet for the blue shirts.

UPDATE: Lightning Strike Twice

Saturday Tampa Bay did it again, winning 4-3 in OT over the Carolina Hurricanes.  (Oh, the storm puns we could run wild with here...)  Stamkos scored twice, including his 47th in OT, while the usual cast of characters - St. Louis, Purcell and Malone - all factored in on the scoring.  Purcell now has his scoring streak up to 9 games, and has 6G and 18A in his last 14 games.  He's the hottest man in the NHL!
