Ward and 'Canes Getting it Going

Standard Spin: Due to the poor play of the Carolina Hurricanes, we haven't had a whole lot of positive news to report on Cam Ward this season, but Saturday the 'Canes beat the defending cup champs and Ward got his record up to .500 for the first time since the beginning of November.  He is now 16-16-6.  The Hurricanes are playing much better of late, perhaps due in large part to the improved play of captain Eric Staal.  Ward is 5-3 in his last 8 starts.

Ward is the workhorse in Carolina; in 46 total games, he's played in 39.  If Carolina is going to make a push, Ward is going to be in line for a bump; however, to do that the Hurricanes are going to have to figure out how to win on the road - they have the 3rd worst road record in the NHL. (Jan.15)
